Mission

Safety Positive’s mission is to serve the disabled community by guiding people through their personal journey toward safety.

What This Means

Our mission is rooted in the belief that safety is personal, evolving, and different for every individual.

We are not here to provide one universal answer to safety.

We are here to guide people as they build their own understanding of what safety looks like in their life.

Why This Mission Exists

Traditional safety education often focuses on a single approach and expects it to work for everyone.

But disabled individuals experience the world in many different ways.

That means safety must be flexible, adaptable, and built around the person—not the system.

This mission exists to support that shift.

Why This Work Matters

Personal safety conversations within the disabled community have often been limited, inconsistent, or overlooked altogether.

Disabled individuals experience significantly higher rates of emotional, verbal, financial, and physical harm than the general population, yet many people are expected to navigate these challenges without practical safety education, meaningful support, or spaces to practice the skills that build confidence and choice.

At Safety Positive Foundation, we believe safety should not be reactive or fear-based.

We believe safety should be something people can learn, practice, and build over time in ways that fit their real lives.

That is why we are committed to creating more safety-positive moments through education, community, conversation, and choice.

Core Values

Safety Positive Foundation is guided by five core values:

Our Aspiration

Our aspiration is to be a leading disability-centered safety organization providing comprehensive, accessible, and practical safety education and support.

We aim to serve individuals across the disability community by offering tools, training, and ongoing guidance that support real-life independence and confidence.

This includes expanding access to safety education that is adaptable, trauma-informed, and grounded in lived experience.

How We Fulfill This Mission

We support this mission through education, community, and ongoing learning opportunities.

This includes:

What We Believe About Safety

We believe safety is not a one-time achievement.

It is something that develops over time through awareness, experience, and support.

We believe people should be given tools, not instructions.

We believe dignity, choice, and adaptability are essential to real safety.

Who We Serve

We serve disabled individuals who want to build confidence, independence, and real-world safety skills.

We also work with organizations that are committed to providing meaningful, ongoing safety support to the communities they serve.

Where This Leads

This mission is carried through every part of Safety Positive Foundation—from learning and community spaces to long-term Path-based support.

Everything connects back to one goal: helping people build safety in a way that works for them.

Keep it safe.
Keep it positive.
Keep it Safety Positive.
