Who We Are
Safety Positive Foundation exists to redefine what safety means for disabled individuals.
Safety Should Never Come at the Cost of Dignity
Safety Positive Foundation was created with one belief at the center:
Everyone deserves to feel safe while still being treated with dignity and respect.
For too long, safety has been taught in ways that limit choice, overlook lived experience, or focus on only one part of a person’s life.
We believe there has to be a better way.
Why We Exist
Many traditional safety programs are designed to be taught once and expected to last forever.
But safety does not work that way.
Real safety is built over time through awareness, practice, reflection, and support.
Without reinforcement, even strong information fades.
Without choice, people disconnect.
Without community, people are left to figure it out alone.
Safety Positive Foundation exists to change that experience.
What Makes Us Different
Safety Positive Foundation is built by disabled individuals, for disabled individuals.
We do not take traditional models and try to force them to fit different bodies, communication styles, or lived experiences.
Instead, we recognize that people learn, move, and respond in different ways—and those differences are valid.
There is no single correct way to build safety.
What matters is that it works for the individual.
Our Approach
We use what we call the Safety Positive Method.
This approach focuses on the whole person, not just one aspect of safety.
- Mental and emotional awareness
- Verbal communication and boundary setting
- Physical awareness and personal care
- Environmental awareness and intuition
Safety is not one skill.
It is a combination of choices that work together in real life.
What We Stand For
Safety is not about control.
It is about choice.
Safety is not about perfection.
It is about progress.
Safety is not something you achieve once.
It is something you continue to build.
Who We Serve
We work with disabled individuals who want to build confidence, communication skills, and real-world safety awareness.
We also partner with organizations that are ready to move beyond one-time training and provide ongoing, meaningful support.
The Crew and Community
At Safety Positive Foundation, our community is known as the Crew.
The Crew includes people engaging with Safety Positive through learning, connection, events, and ongoing participation.
Spaces like Teatime and our broader community offerings are built to support connection, reflection, and shared growth.
Where You Fit
Whether you are just beginning or continuing your journey, there is space for you here.
You do not need to have everything figured out before you start.
You just need a place to begin.
Keep Going
Safety is not a destination.
It is something you continue building over time with support, awareness, and choice.
Keep it safe.
Keep it positive.
Keep it Safety Positive.
