Our Trainings: Empowering Choices for Personal Safety

At Safety Positive Foundation, we are passionately dedicated to providing choices that enhance personal safety for individuals in the blind community. Our range of trainings and resources is designed to empower you, offering foundational support that will grow and evolve over time. Here’s a closer look at what we offer:

Teatime: A Safe Harbor for Learning

What is Teatime?

Teatime is a cornerstone of our offerings and serves as a safe space to learn and discuss a variety of personal safety topics. Each month, we focus on a different theme related to personal safety, creating an opportunity for deep dives into subjects that matter to our community. These events function like peer support groups, with a strong emphasis on sharing experiences and gaining valuable insights in a supportive environment.

When is Teatime?

Join us every Monday night at 7:30 PM Central Time via Zoom for enriching discussions!

How do I join Teatime?

Simply sign up for our Safety Positive Guide at any level to gain access to our events, including Teatime.

Survivor Support: A Compassionate Space

In our Safety Positive Guide, we have created a dedicated space for blind survivors of all forms of abuse—whether physical, sexual, mental, emotional, verbal, or financial. This support is deeply rooted in our founder Amy SP Wilson’s personal journey as a survivor. We welcome ALL individuals seeking connection and healing, and we are committed to growing this space over time.

Verbal Craft: Speak Up for Yourself

What is Verbal Craft?

Our Verbal Craft training is a self-advocacy and assertiveness communication program designed to empower you to speak up for yourself. Participants learn a proven formula for effective communication, enabling them to express their needs and assert their rights confidently.

SHIELD Training: Your Defense Against Adversity

What is SHIELD?

Our SHIELD training focuses on teaching self-defense fundamentals tailored for the blind community. Recognizing that adapting to life as a blind or disabled individual is essential, our hybrid training model combines virtual education with a one-day in-person session.

What will you gain?

You will receive foundational self-defense training and ongoing support with access to additional resources for one year after completing the in-person training. This comprehensive approach ensures you are well-equipped to continue your personal safety journey.

How do I access the SHIELD training?

Currently offered by appointment, we are excited to work with individuals across the United States. Access all related information through your Safety Positive Guide.

Spicy Armory: Mastering Pepper Spray

What is Spicy Armory?

Our Spicy Armory training is a focused, four-hour in-person session that educates participants on the use of pepper spray for self-defense.

What will you learn?

This training provides you with practical skills and knowledge about how pepper spray works, along with hands-on practice in real-life scenarios.

Ongoing Support:

Just like our other trainings, you’ll have access to materials and refresher information within your Safety Positive Guide for one year following your training.

We are committed to working hard to provide as many personal safety trainings and resources as possible for our blind community. At Safety Positive Foundation, we believe that with the right support, everyone can navigate their personal safety journey with confidence and empowerment!
